Easier to invest in war than peace: Lula on NATO's budget hike
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva reacted to NATO's proposed hike in defence budget and remarked that it's "easier to invest in war than peace". "It's easier to allocate 5% of GDP to military spending than to fulfil...0.7% promised for official development assistance," Lula said. NATO countries pledged to contribute 5% of their respective GDP towards defence by 2035.
