Fastest-ever wind speed of 33,000 kmph detected on planet 500 light-years away from Earth
Astronomers have detected a "supersonic jetstream" on a planet located 500 light-years from Earth, with wind speeds reaching 33,000 kmph. These are the fastest planetary winds ever observed in the universe. The exoplanet called WASP-127b has a large band of strong winds, or jetstream, circling its equator.
