A 990-foot asteroid, which is the size of a giant stadium, is approaching Earth at a speed of 21,994 mph (35,396 kmph). The asteroid, named 1997 QK1, will make its closest approach to Earth on August 20 (Wednesday). It belongs to the Aten group of asteroids, known for crossing Earth’s orbit.
