Google calls India global hotspot for AI-driven scams, sets up protection system
Google considers India one of the most intense markets for AI-driven scams, with industrial-scale deepfake fraud and "digital arrest" scams. To combat these frauds, the tech giant planned to set up on-device scam detection for Pixel 9 devices in India and new screen-sharing alerts for financial apps. India lost $789-million due to online scams in first five months of 2025.
