Google to pay $36 mn fine for violating competition law in Aus
Google has been sued by Australia's competition watchdog over alleged anti-competitive practices in its search engine agreements. Google violated the country's competition law by reaching "understandings" with telcos Telstra and Optus to pre-install its search app on Android phones sold by these telcos. The telcos were given a share of the revenue generated from Google Search between 2019-2021.
