Govt Covid circular can’t cut insurance cover: Delhi High Court
The Delhi High Court ruled that a government circular on regulating Covid-19 hospital charges cannot limit insurers' obligations to policyholders. Directing United India Insurance to pay petitioner Reena Goel's pending claim, Justice Sachin Datta said the insurer's reliance on the circular was unjustified and contrary to IRDAI's clarifications. Insurers must honour full contractual coverage.
