Govt to conserve its rare earths, halt exports to Japan: Report
The Centre has asked state-run miner IREL to suspend the 13-year-old agreement on rare earth metals exports to Japan to safeguard supplies for domestic needs, a report stated. In an aim to reduce dependence on China, IREL also wants to develop India's capacity for rare earth processing. China has curbed its rare earth materials exports since April, pressuring automakers worldwide.
