High levels of lead found in popular protein powders in US, reveals report
Consumer Reports recently examined top-selling protein powders and ready-to-drink shakes in US for presence of heavy metals, including lead. Out of 23 products, researchers found that over two-thirds contained more lead in single serving than recommended daily safety limit of 0.5 micrograms. The report said plant-based protein products contain, on average, 9 times more lead than dairy proteins.
