Hijab ban in school a denial of secular education: Kerala to HC
Kerala government told High Court that not permitting a Muslim girl to wear headscarf (hijab) in school was a "denial of her right to secular education". Right to wear a headscarf "doesn't stop at school gate", it added. The court closed an Ernakulam-based Catholic school's plea challenging Deputy Director of Education's instruction to permit a Muslim student to wear headscarf.
