How did a letter written in broken English lead to installation of toilets in Railways?
It's believed that a complaint in 1909 led to toilets' installation in Indian trains, Moneycontrol reported. A man, Okhil Chandra Sen, wrote a letter to Railways, saying he missed his train after getting down to relieve himself. "I am running with ‘lotah’ in one hand and ‘dhoti’ in...next," he wrote in broken English. Subsequently, toilets were installed in lower-class carriages.
