IAF Eyes 10 5th-Gen Squadrons by 2040, AMCA is Critical
The Indian Air Force plans for 25% of its fleet to be fifth-generation fighters by 2040, aiming for a total strength of 42 squadrons. This goal requires at least 10 squadrons of stealth jets, hinging critically on the timely success of the indigenous AMCA program, which will be supplemented by foreign acquisitions to counter depleting squadron numbers.
