IISc team develops faster, cheaper way to convert seawater to drinking water
An Indian Institute of Science research team designed a thermal desalination system that can transform seawater into drinking water in faster and cheaper way. The system's working depends on siphon: fabric wick paired with a grooved metallic surface. When the fabric draws salty water from reservoir, the siphon doesn't allow salt to crystallise and flushes it away before buildup occurs.
