IIT Madras develops affordable device for rapid antibiotic testing
IIT Madras researchers have developed a lab-on-chip device based on 'Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy' to rapidly determine whether bacteria are resistant or susceptible to antibiotics. The device employs screen-printed carbon electrodes embedded in a simple microfluidic chip, making it both cost-effective and suitable for use in smaller clinics. It can deliver results within three hours.
