IMD predicts warmer October, less rain in Northeast
The IMD has forecast below-normal rainfall and above-normal temperatures for parts of Northeast India in October. While the 2025 monsoon was 108% of normal nationally, East and Northeast India saw its 2nd lowest rainfall since 1901. Experts warn the deficit could hit tea, paddy, and horticulture crops across Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal, and Nagaland.
