In a 1st, scientists develop drug to destroy cancer's 'immortality' RNA
Scientists from Hebrew University have developed a new kind of drug molecule that can destroy TERRA, a piece of RNA linked to certain cancers' "replicate immortality" ability. For this, they built the small molecule using a technology called Ribonuclease-Targeting Chimera (RIBOTAC). The team believes this is the first time TERRA has been destroyed so precisely, leaving similar RNAs unaffected.
