India-Bhutan's 1st rail link fast-tracked with special status
India and Bhutan's first rail link, the 69-km Kokrajhar-Gelephu line, has been designated a 'Special Railway Project' to fast-track land acquisition and construction. The project includes six new stations and close to 100 bridges, with construction to begin after final approvals. This move aims to advance India's Act East Policy and boost connectivity and trade, a railway ministry official said.
