India just assembles what China makes : HCL's Ajai Chowdhry
HCL co-founder Ajai Chowdhry warned that India has become an assembly base for Chinese-made components instead of creating its own technology. He urged the government to adopt a 'demand aggregation' model, pooling large orders for capable Indian firms, to help them design, manufacture, and scale globally. Chowdhry said India must shift from assembling to truly 'making' in India.
