India opens a new airport every 50 days, says Civil Aviation Min
Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu on Friday said every 50 days a new airport is opened in India, which is unprecedented anywhere in the globe. The country now operates 163 airports, more than double from 2014, driven by schemes like UDAN that connect underserved areas. Passenger traffic is rising rapidly, aiming for 350-400 airports by 2047, boosting GDP and job creation.
