India pushes local alternatives to Google, Microsoft apps: Report
Three Cabinet Ministers are promoting local apps to rival Google Maps, WhatsApp and Microsoft, at a time when India-US ties are strained, Reuters reported. The ministers are backing “Made in India” products after US imposed 50% tariffs, following which PM Narendra Modi pushed for the use of "swadeshi" products. Meanwhile, India is WhatsApp's biggest market, with over 500 million users.
