India's daily per capita calorie intake improves among poor: Data
India's daily per capita calorie intake remained stable from 2022-23 and 2023-24, NSO data revealed. The intake in rural India dipped slightly from 2,233 kilocalories (Kcal) in 2022-23 to 2,212 Kcal in 2023-24. Intake rose with spending, as the poorest consumed around 1,690 Kcal, while the richest had up to 3,092 Kcal, showing improved nutrition among low-income groups.
