India's food inflation declines to 6-year low at 2.82% in May
India's Consumer Price Index (CPI) slowed to a 6-year low at 2.82% in May from 3.16% in April. This was below the RBI's 4% target, as food inflation eased below 1% for the first time in nearly four years, as per government data. This is mainly attributed to decline in inflation of pulses, vegetables, fruits, cereals, household goods and services.
