India’s positive millets: Forgotten grains make comeback
India's five Positive Millets foxtail, kodo, little, barnyard, and browntop are making a comeback for their health and climate benefits. Once staples, millet intake fell from 30 kg/person in 1960 to 4 kg in 2022. Now, India produces 15.38 million tonnes on 12.19 million hectares. With rising MSPs and urban demand, these drought-resistant, nutrient-rich grains revive diets and farming.
