India to host FIDE Chess World Cup for the first time in 23 years
India is set to host the FIDE Chess World Cup 2025, scheduled from October 30 to November 27. The tournament will feature 206 participants, including Gukesh D, Magnus Carlsen and R Praggnanandhaa, and it will be played in a knockout format. Notably, India last hosted the event 23 years ago, in 2002, when Viswanathan Anand was declared champion.
