Indian astronomers find early-universe galaxy similar to Milky Way, pic emerges
A massive galaxy that existed when the universe was just 1.5 billion years old has been discovered by astronomers in Pune. The galaxy, named Alaknanda after the Himalayan river, is one of the earliest to have been observed so far. The galaxy is unique as it's a well-defined spiral galaxy that's similar in structure to our own Milky Way.
