IPS officer explains how cutting bus fares in Bhubaneswar raised revenue by 3%
IPS officer Arun Bothra, Bhubaneswar's Capital Region Urban Transport's ex-MD, recalled conductors often struggled with change, which irritated passengers, as fares were ₹7, ₹13 and so on. Bothra said he adopted urban transport expert Prashanth Bachu's suggestion of simplifying fares. Since government companies can't raise fares, Bothra cut fares to ₹5, ₹10 and so on, which raised revenue by 3%.
