Judges taking govt posts, fighting polls after retirement erodes trust in judiciary: CJI
Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai said judges taking up government appointments soon after retirement or quitting bench to fight polls "raises significant ethical concerns". "Timing and nature of such post-retirement engagements may erode public trust in judiciary's integrity," he said. These may create perception that judicial decisions were influenced by post-retirement prospects, CJI said.
