K'taka approves Bill against hate speech, proposes up to 10-yr jail
The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the Karnataka Hate Speech and Hate Crimes (Prevention) Bill, 2025. The Bill states that people committing a hate crime will get up to seven years of imprisonment along with a fine of ₹50,000. Those found committing repeat offences will get up to 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine of ₹1,00,000.
