Kashmir’s chinar trees get QR-Aadhaar tags to track their survival
Chinar trees in Kashmir's Pulwama are being geotagged with QR-Aadhaar to monitor their health and prevent illegal felling. Over 28,500 trees have been tagged so far with more to follow. Using ultrasonography-based gadgets, the health and risk levels of each chinar can be assessed, eliminating the need for manual evaluation, Syed Tariq, project coordinator at J&K Forest Research Institute, said.
