Kerala fast-tracks antivenom for deadly hump-nosed vipers
Kerala has scaled up its efforts to make antivenom for the deadly hump-nosed pit viper snakes (HNPV). Currently, the state has antivenom for only 4 snakes - cobra, common krait, Russell’s viper, and saw-scaled viper. Hump-nosed vipers are small, growing up to 55 cm. Once considered only moderately venomous, it is now recognised as highly venomous.
