Kerala woman turns her home's backyard into 5-acre forest
A 91-year-old woman, Kollakkayil Devaki Amma, has transformed the backyard of her home into a five-acre forest in Kerala's Alappuzha district, according to The Better India. She began by planting a single sapling three years after an accident in 1980. In recognition of her contribution to the environment, Devaki Amma was awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar in 2019.
