London woman fined ₹17,500 for pouring coffee into drain, later let off with warning
A London woman, Burcu Yesilyurt, was fined £150 (approximately ₹17,500) for allegedly pouring leftover coffee into a street drain before boarding a bus. Yesilyurt said she thought she was acting responsibly, but officers fined her under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. The South-West London council later cancelled the fine and issued her a warning, according to reports.
