Long-term melatonin use may raise heart failure risk: Study
A study to be presented at the AHA Scientific Sessions 2025 found that long-term melatonin use (1 year or more) in adults with insomnia was linked to a 90% higher risk of heart failure, 3.5 times higher hospitalisation and double the death rate. Researchers urge further studies to assess melatonin's long-term cardiovascular safety.
