Many tourists rescued, 100 still stranded in Sikkim’s Lachen: DGP
Around 1,678 tourists, stuck in North Sikkim's Lachung and Chungthang towns following rain-triggered landslides on May 29, were evacuated on Monday and more than 100 others are still stranded in Lachen, the Sikkim DGP said. He added that the rescued tourists had left for Gangtok. The evacuation of tourists began after the Border Roads Organisation restored road connectivity to Lachung.
