Marine Drive tetrapods inspire plastic research: Study
Researchers from IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Kanpur found that tetrapod-shaped nanoparticles reduce the viscosity of polymers. The study suggests that unlike spheres that thicken fluids, these shapes create space for polymer chains to slide easily. This discovery, inspired by wave breakers, could lower energy costs in plastic processing and aid in 3D printing applications.
