Maruti Suzuki cuts EV production amid rare earth metals crisis
Maruti Suzuki has reduced near-term production targets for its maiden electric vehicle, e-Vitara, due to rare earth metals/minerals shortages as China curbed their exports. The firm is shifting its goal of producing 26,500 e-Vitaras to 8,200, while still planning to meet its output target of 67,000 EVs for FY26. China's curbs on rare earth exports have disrupted global auto industry.
