Meta has confirmed that it has deleted around 1 crore Facebook (impersonator) accounts in the first half of 2025, in a bid to combat "spammy content". These fake accounts were reportedly mimicking large content creators to exploit Facebookâs algorithm and audience reach. It removed another 500,000 Facebook accounts as they were indulging in comment spam, bot-like engagement, and content recycling.
