Microplastics in Gulf waters endanger marine life, humans: Study
A study published in the journal 'Emerging Contaminants' found microplastics accumulating in the Gulf of Mexico, harm marine animals and enter human food chain. Rivers, especially near the Mississippi Delta, are the main source. Floating and sinking plastics create hotspots affecting fish, turtles, and dolphins. Scientists stressed the need for cleaning rivers and better plastic waste management.
