Montenegro increases electoral quota for women to 40%

Montenegro's parliament has passed a law that increases the electoral quota for women on candidate lists from 30 percent previously to 40 percent going forward. The law also includes an additional rank-order requirement that one of every three candidates on party lists be women. Currently, women comprise 27.2 percent of all MPs in the country.
