Mysterious interstellar object reaches its closest point to Sun
The mysterious interstellar object, 3I/ATLAS, reached its closest point to Sun on Wednesday. 3I/ATLAS was discovered on July 1, 2025, by the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS). At perihelion, 3I/ATLAS was located between the orbits of Earth and Mars and was in solar conjunction as seen from Earth.
