Mystery owner of 3-million-year-old foot found in Africa identified, say scientists
Scientists have identified 3-million-year-old foot found in Ethiopia as belonging to Australopithecus deyiremeda, a little-known ancient human relative. The newly analysed fossils, including jawbone with 12 teeth from Burtele, show this species lived alongside Lucy's species over three million years ago. The findings challenge assumptions that only Lucy's species inhabited that region at the time.
