Nanotyrannus, considered young T rex, declared distinct species
Nanotyrannus, once considered a young T rex has been declared a distinct predator species from late Cretaceous period. Researchers analysed a nearly complete skeleton found beside a Triceratops, studying bone growth rings, vertebral fusion and microstructure and found that it was fully mature, weighing about 680 kgs. Researchers say the findings "flip decades of T rex research on its head".
