NASA to launch mission to picture Earth's giant invisible halo
NASA is preparing Carruthers Geocorona Observatory to image Earth's vast invisible halo, the geocorona, lying in outer exosphere. Using UV imaging, the mission will track how Sun affects it and help in predicting space weather to safeguard Artemis astronauts. Launching on September 24 onboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, Carruthers observatory will begin its two-year primary mission in March 2026.
