During his end-of-year news conference on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that his country needed long-lasting peace with Ukraine and not a temporary truce. He further said that a ceasefire would allow "the enemy to strengthen its troops" and give Ukraine a chance to bring in reinforcements and ammunition.
