NEIGRIHMS doctors save woman with rare airway procedure
Doctors at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong saved a woman using a rare non-surgical airway procedure in a Northeast first. She suffered from a complication called 'Stump Blowout'. A custom Y-shaped silicone stent was used to seal damaged airway, preventing infection and avoiding surgery. The innovative step gave her time to recover.
