New damselfly species discovered in the Western Ghats
Researchers identified a new damselfly, Protosticta sooryaprakashi, in Karnataka. Named the Kodagu Shadowdamsel, it features unique sky-blue markings and "duck-head" shaped reproductive organs. Confirmed via DNA analysis, the species honors late botanist Dr Sooryaprakash Shenoy. This discovery highlights the rich, hidden biodiversity of the Western Ghats.
