New rules for US visas could affect Indian travellers
The US State Department will launch a pilot programme from August 20, 2025, requiring some visa applicants to pay bonds of $5,000 to $15,000 to prevent overstays. While the scheme currently targets Malawi and Zambia, it may expand. Indian travellers are concerned about financial burdens and travel impacts if India is added to the list. The bond is refundable upon compliance.
