New runway built on Yemeni island, likely by anti-Houthi forces
Satellite images have revealed construction of a new 2,000-metre runway on Zuqar Island in the Red Sea, off Yemen's coast. The project is likely being undertaken by forces opposed to the country's Iranian-backed Houthi rebels. The airstrip could enable aerial surveillance over the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
