New wolf snake found in Great Nicobar named after Steve Irwin
Scientists have identified a new wolf snake species on Great Nicobar Island, naming it Lycodon irwini in honour of Steve Irwin. The slender, bluish-black snake reaches 1.2 metres. According to scientists, there are only four confirmed records. Believed to be confined to Great Nicobar, researchers recommend an Endangered status, warning that development poses a threat to its habitat.
