Newly repaired bridge collapses in Assam due to overloaded trucks
A newly repaired bridge on Assam’s Silchar-Kalain Road collapsed early Wednesday after two overloaded trucks, each carrying over 120 tonnes of stone, violated the 40-tonne limit. Both vehicles plunged into the Harang River while locals blamed poor enforcement. Cachar DC Mridul Yadav confirmed an inquiry and said rescue operations are underway.
