Nikkei, Asahi sue Perplexity AI in Japan over copyright
Japan's major daily publishers Nikkei and Asahi Shimbun sued Perplexity AI over the alleged unauthorized use of their articles, seeking a total of 4.4 billion yen ($30 million) in compensation. They accused it of bypassing safeguards, scraping servers, and distributing inaccurate summaries in violation of copyright law. The publishers also seek an injunction.
